Whether you’re a local or visitor to the Park City area, you know that style is a must. From the mountain to the office and everything in between, the fashion in Utah is just as important as the activity.

While the focus is often on women’s shopping, there’s no shortage of great options for men. Why not spend time shopping local and enjoying some retail therapy as part of your time in Utah?

Distinct Outerwear

Though outerwear can sometimes be thought of as a mundane purchase, there are luxurious options out there, especially in Park City. Grant Feeney, regional store manager of Overland Sheepskin Co., says their transitional pieces are actually some of their most popular.

“We’re known for our sheepskin, it’s our heritage,” Feeney says. “The business started with our founder selling sheepskin pelts in New Mexico. Ultimately, it grew to custom-order coats, hats, garments, etc. But those are our roots … making excellent quality sheepskin coats for people across the greater West.”

Beyond sheepskin, Overland carries light jackets and vests year-round. While vests can be a great way to stay warm any time of year, Feeney says their Romano jacket is also especially popular among locals and tourists. It’s made out of calfskin and provides the rugged, gentleman look that you can wear with jeans and a T-shirt, Feeney says.

Dress It Up

While work-from-home fashion has taken over, meetings, dinner parties and weddings warrant a proper-fitting suit. Brooks Brothers is the United States’ longest male retailer, starting in 1818.

Abraham Salas, store manager for Brooks Brothers in Park City, says their dress shirts are the most popular item sold, not only locally but across the country. These shirts are 100% cotton, machine washable and wrinkle-free. They do run on the pricier side, but quality beats everything, Salas says.

“Because we’re catered toward men, our semi-annual sale takes place around Father’s Day and always offers great deals on popular items such as these shirts,” Salas says. “This is the first year we’re back to normal with carrying seasonal attire since the pandemic five years ago, so we’re excited to promote golf-wear again as well.”

If the European style is more your speed, head to Grace Clothiers for pants and jackets that are easy to wear yet still high-end. “We carry mainly European brands, with a few American as well,” says owner Laura Montecot-Fruth. “We specialize in high-end shirts, T-shirts, pants and jackets that are deconstructed for this mountain environment, yet keep the style in the forefront.”

Grace Clothiers carries New Amsterdam Industry out of Amsterdam, M & Olberg out of Poland, MAD Jeans from Germany and Regency Leather made in Canada, just to name a few bestsellers. Montecot-Fruth says the best-selling item that men come in for is their deconstructed blazer, which doesn’t have lining in the back, so it easily fits everyone. It’s wearable and fashionable with jeans as opposed to a suit and tie, so there’s more appeal and wearability, she says.

Standout Athletic Apparel

Though Park City is known more for its mountains, Roark brings the Southern California laid-back, surfer-dude style to Utah. “Our origin story is really cool,” says Spencer Carter, manager of Roark Park City. “When our owners opened, they went on a trip to get inspiration for color palettes, and that became the tradition. Each season, they take a trip that inspires the line.”

This summer’s line is inspired by Australia, Carter says, with lots of blues, reds and sandy neutral colors. You can find this Aussie-inspired style woven into some of their most popular items, such as the Run Amok active line. These items are all sun-protective, water-resistant and styled to take from the trail to the bar. Though intended for activity outside in the sun, they’re stylish enough to wear daily, Carter says.

“I love this specific line,” notes Carter. “What really attracted me to this company, in addition to the great clothes, is the trip and experience coming through in all the designs. The storytelling through men’s fashion is unique.”

Another local favorite for high-end athletic wear is Stio, which specializes in outdoor activewear for the mountains. “We’re proud to offer so many great outdoor options in-store,” says Holly Mravetz, mountain studio manager of Stio Park City. “We specifically focus on gear for outdoor activities that is high quality.”

A few popular lines include Old Pass Road pants made for biking. They’re stretchy, breathable and have a wide waistband for comfort. These are the town’s favorite pants, Mravetz says.

The Second Light Collection is another top seller, Mravetz says. These items are all super thin, ultra-packable, windproof and durable. While these ideal extra layers aren’t waterproof, they keep body heat in, so your core temperature stays warm.

Luxurious Accessories

What’s an outfit without the right accessories? As you meander through town, make sure to stop at O.C. Tanner Jewelers, the luxury jeweler on Main Street.

“We have exclusivity with brands like IWC and Cartier for the state of Utah, so a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to see such a great selection if they don’t search for it,” says Assistant Store Manager Jennifer Powers. “Park City can offer that luxurious, exclusive shopping experience, and it’s right here in our store.”

While watches and clocks are a big part of their business, OC Tanner also sells men’s jewelry, such as John Hardy bracelets and necklaces. Another hot-selling item is the pen line from David Oscarson, Powers says. These $7,000 gifts are a great way to treat yourself and commemorate your time, and shopping, in Utah.
