Westland Construction has proudly served Utah for decades, delivering a wide range of projects including high schools, hospitals, private airplane hangars and recreation centers. With deep roots in the community and a passion for building, the business has launched Westland Reserve, a new company focused on custom luxury homes.

“Westland Reserve is built on the same foundation of experience and quality, but with a dedicated focus on the residential client. We prioritize a highly personalized experience, working closely with each homeowner to bring their vision to life,” says Westland Reserve Partner Mike Tingey.
With this background in commercial construction, Westland Reserve brings a professional approach to every project. “Our processes and procedures are structured, efficient and highly organized,” he adds. “We act as true stewards of our clients’ time and resources, working diligently to protect their investment while serving as a trusted advocate throughout the entire building process.”
Shaped by Utah’s landscape and a long-standing commitment to craftsmanship, Westland Reserve has a reputation for building custom luxury residences at the highest standard. With a team of specialists who have spent years in the industry, the company is intimately familiar with the nuance that comes with challenging mountain building sites and prioritizes a high standard of design. It’s that depth of hard-earned expertise that clients building in the Beehive State’s increasingly sophisticated market have come to expect.

The Groundwork
“We invest time early walking the property with the client, studying the views, and working alongside the architect to shape the home around the landscape. In the mountains, one of the most important decisions is establishing where the home sits on the property. From there, we stay closely involved through design and preconstruction, bringing in our trade partners at the right moments to inform decisions before they become costly,” says Amber McMullin, division manager at Westland Reserve in Park City. “By the time construction begins, the project is fully thought through, aligned and understood in detail, which allows us to execute at a very high level with fewer surprises along the way.”
In the mountains, every parcel brings its own design considerations, and the early involvement of a professional builder can make the difference between a smooth process and a costly one. Park City-based architect Glenn Taucher, principal and owner of Line 8 Design, has collaborated with Westland Reserve on several projects and notes the team’s willingness to engage immediately and purposefully.
For example, when buyers are shopping for land, they’re typically focused on views, natural light and privacy — often forgetting to look at the ground below their feet. The makeup of the soil dramatically affects both cost and complexity. “The geotechnical report might show there’s solid bedrock under the site,” Taucher shares as an example. “That means blasting or extensive excavation. And most people have no clue they should be thinking about that.” With a professional builder like Westland Reserve involved from the start, it makes achieving the ideal outcome more possible and affordable.

Park City Proud
In recent years, Park City has become one of Utah’s most design-forward markets. “People care a lot more about design and functionality, where that didn’t exist in the past,” says Taucher, who has watched the shift firsthand. For discerning clients building in that landscape, who they hire is key. For many, that choice has led them to Westland Reserve, which started as a small family-owned business years ago and has grown over time.
The company’s history of working with commercial clients, ranging from school districts to corporations and high-end residential clients has resulted in a thoughtful approach to building. “The commercial experience taught us how to closely collaborate with teams who may not be familiar with design terminology or processes,” Tingey says, “and the same is true for people building homes. We focus on communicating in a clear, approachable way.”
Over the past year, Westland Reserve has actively engaged with numerous architects, designers and subcontractors throughout the Park City area that work in a similar fashion. As a result, the company celebrated the grand opening of its new Park City office at Kimball Junction in April. Westland Reserve also is a member of the Park City Area Home Builders Association and an active supporter of the organization’s scholarship program. Visit westlandreserve.com.
