Dream Destination

Park City offers the perfect mix of luxury, accessibility and mountain allure.

“Couples from around the world are drawn to this region because they want their guests to experience the mountains up close, and Park City always delivers,” says Kate Jones, owner of Kate Elizabeth Events. “Guests can immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors, creating unforgettable moments alongside the newlyweds.”

Park City has mountain scenery nearly at every turn, agrees Alexa Kay, proprietor of Alexa Kay Events. “It’s small enough to get around, but there’s also a never-ending amount of attractions.”

In only a short drive from Salt Lake City International Airport, you’re suddenly in a whole new world — one that has stellar venues and world-class wedding professionals. That’s one of the reasons why the region’s top planners find their clienteles packed with couples planning destination fetes in Park City.

“The local talent and creatives that service Park City weddings are outstanding,” confirms Melissa Fancy, founder of Melissa Fancy Events. “Guests are enchanted by the natural beauty and the variety of activities at their fingertips. This is the recipe for a dream wedding destination.”

Wedding Weekend Wonder

For a destination wedding, the ceremony and reception are just the beginning; the real fun comes in planning an entire weekend experience. A welcome party at one of the city’s favorite restaurants or bars is a must for kicking off the festivities and acquainting the wedding party and other guests with the local charm. Fancy recommends booking venues on Main Street so friends and family can experience downtown at its most magical hour: sunset.  Many couples opt to plan daytime excursions centered around Park City’s glorious landscape. Think guided hikes and mountain biking, gondola rides, fly-fishing, mountaintop yoga, hot-air balloon rides and paddleboard excursions on local waterways. In winter, consider options like snowmobiling adventures, snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding and dog sledding.

Bridal parties also can take advantage of the region’s world-class spas like The Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge, Spa Montage Deer Valley, St. Regis Spa or Align Spa for some pre-wedding pampering. Guests also will welcome the chance to stroll through Olympic Park and idle around Main Street’s shops, restaurants and galleries

“Park City has so much to offer; we make sure to leave a little downtime for guests to do some local exploring,” emphasizes Fancy.

Local Flavor

The hallmark of a perfectly planned destination wedding is weaving the local culture and custom into your celebration. “Incorporating iconic Park City touches adds an extra layer of charm and authenticity,” says Jones.

For example, reception menus might incorporate local flavors like Utah trout and elk. A cocktail hour can be enhanced by tasting stations serving spirits made by Alpine Distilling and High West Distillery while appetizer platters spotlight Utah honey and local artisanal cheeses by Heber Valley Artisan Cheese and Park City Creamery. Ritual chocolate bars made in Heber can do double duty as place cards thanks to custom labels.

Wedding themes can embrace Western style or draw inspiration from the surroundings. Consider “rustic mountain chic” or “elegant ski chateau” with decor like vintage ski props or fur throws enhancing the ambiance, suggests Jones. In addition, Fancy has commissioned custom artwork of Deer Valley and used it for invitations and decor.

Couples also love to send guests home with favors as mementos of their big day. Jones’ couples have gifted locally crafted pottery and handmade soaps infused with mountain herbs, while one of Kay’s favorite favors is branded cowboy hats.

“Couples have endless opportunities to infuse their wedding celebrations with the unique charm and character of Park City,” says Jones. “It creates unforgettable experiences for themselves and their guests.”
